Inspiration Treasure Chest: The Best websites to inspire Animators: Part 1

Yyyyyyup, we all need inspirations…all creativity is inspired from some place. So where should you look for ideas? Fortunately, we live in the age of THE INTERNET and inspirations are aplenty. But unfortunately it is goddamn tough to sift through it all to find the real gems. So we thought we’d compile a list of our favorite places. These are the places we look to for sparking our creativity. This series will cover inspirations for animations, illustrations, designs, typography, writing and so forth…Oughta be helpful.

The Best websites to inspire Animators: Part 1

1. Motionographer.com: If you are an animator and needed to pick just one website out of this list, this would be it. It has everything from spellbinding videos to inspire you to tutorials to communities to events…almost everything an animator can ask for and then some more. Don’t be fooled by the rather academic/boring looking layout of the site. It is a wonderland of inspirations.

2. Troublemakers.tv : I’m sorry, I just went to the site to plan what I could write and I sat glued there for half an hour, as if in a trance! That is how captivating it is. OMG the talent! I mean, I feel that by simply labeling what we see here as “talent”, I’m being sacrilegious. There surely must be some word to define the higher art by demigods that we see here. Yes, I’m drooling over your work, all you directors!

3.Animade.tv : This is what Animade has to say about itself “Animade is a London-based animation studio. We make things move with character”. Apart from having a brilliant collection of their own work, they also have a blog that features the best of the best. Neat way to help you get started.

4. Awn.com : AWN stands for “Animation World Network.” And it is like an online publication for everything related to animation. It has the latest news, pathbreaking videos, trends, blogs and even a magazine dedicated to animations. An awesome repository of knowledge!

5. Loopdeloop.org : Loopdeloop is an animation challenge. Every month the website suggests a topic and animators from all corners of the world create short looped animations and from this a winner is chosen. Yes, I did say the word “challenge” and when the best creators compete to be recognized as the best, you can definitely expect some trailblazing work! So go ahead and witness looped magic …be enthralled by human imagination!

Vimida

Vimida is a self-proclaimed writer and creative director who thinks that more than 10 years of writing makes her eligible for the Pulitzer or Nobel or “somesuchthing” (well, she’s doesn’t care much about names, it is the sentiments that matter, right?) She often uses her BA English Gold Medal and Symbiosis Mass Communication background to finish off arguments, if they’re not going in her favour. Not being satisfied with writing, she has now decided to interfere in Creative Direction as well. When not at work, she can be seen in the company of her son, who has the uphill task of making his mom grow up right. You can get in touch with her on Facebook, or Twitter, or any social platform, because she signs up for a new one each day. She has many blogs, but she rarely blogs, so the best place to catch her work will be our website.
