So now a story of role reversal…
We at Mypromovideos create promo videos. For this, we need a Project Management software to ensure that everything goes hunky-dory in the “PROJECTS” (picture that word as a vampire with bleeding fangs – a force to be reckoned with!) land. Finding the perfect one is not really easy ‘coz some of them could get Stephen Hawking confused. But we did find one that fit us to the “T” and it was,(ta-da! and spotlights…maybe also a few streamers?) Feng Office (back then it was called by another name…but that’s beyond the purview of this discussion).
So time went on and we were enjoying using Feng Office. We were their clients.
And then…
There came a time when Feng Office needed a promo video and who else do they choose but Mypromovideos? Us! Yay!
And lo and behold! Just like that, there was the role-reversal I was telling you of. Feng Office became our client. And we were rather proud of this fact because Feng Office (apart from having a really cool and catchy name) was not only one of the most pocket-friendly Project Management Systems out there, but was also one of the best ones in their category. And as we had been using Feng Office for a really long time, we knew all its advantages, no better people to work on it.
We had decided one thing right away- we would use no interface scenes. Feng Office is really large software and has N^10000000000000000000×100000000000000000 or so (at least that’s what it looks like to me)features that make your life awesome in as many ways but to include all of that in one promo video would be !@@#$$%^^ IMPOSSIBLE. So we were not going to try it. We would peter down the awesome features to the awesomest of the awesomest (trying to test how flexible English can be here) and present that in the promo video.
As we were not going to use the interface scenes, we decided to use something that has no relation to projects to represent projects. Why? Just because. We used balloons that are a great metaphor because they, in one go, made the promo video easy-to-understand, friendly and yet became superb representatives for projects.
We created a story-based promo video that spoke of the trials and tribulations of a Project Manager and how his life becomes all shiny and radiant with Feng Office. Feng Office already had a mascot which it had been using in all its communications and we extended the branding by using the same character in our promo video too. The other characters were designed to match the main character. The colors went with branding too.
The promo video, while not ha-ha-ha, rolling-on-the-floor humorous, is still light-hearted, sweet and (we hope) brings a smile to the face. The promo video looks nice, with simple animations and uncluttered shots. Creative liberties have been taken make the mundane extraordinary, and a supportive client made it possible.
So how did this role reversal feel? It felt SPECTACULAR, energizing…definitely an experience we look forward to! Need a promo video, even if we are not your client? We’re sure would love that too!:D
