AN EXCUSE TO HAVE FUN….

“All work and no play…” Yup, you know how the saying goes, and we really didn’t want to end up DULL (heaven forbid… far from it !!)

So it was decided that it was time for a well-deserved break from our Motion Graphics Studio. All of us have some really interesting projects lined up and this seemed like a really neat way to “gear-up” for the new assignment. Besides, it was our CEO Gopal’s birthday, and yeah, the break coincided very conveniently with his birthday. And that is how we set out on our group lunch together…

THE HUNGRY LOT

OK, I’m not going into the details of how we made it to the restaurant(although that by itself would’ve have made for a captivating blog post!) We reached the restaurant, called That’s Y Food– if you are curious, and got all set to attack the food. Selecting what to eat was most definitely an adventure. Imagine- 11 hungry young people from a Motion Graphics Studio allowed to go loose over the menu- choose whatever they wanted, how much ever they wanted…-and you’ll get the idea!

So we had the non-vegetarians ordering everything from fish to mutton to chicken- I guess no category was to be left out- all that swims, all that walks and all that flies!! And the vegetarians got adventurous with…well, whatever the vegetarians do get adventurous with – vegetables and stuff(yawn!) (hee-hee). Basically all greedy pigs gluttonous monsters of us ordered whatever caught our fancy, from things we’d never heard of, to things we had every day.

THE PHOTO SHOOT

Of course this was a great occasion for clicking some snaps of our Motion Graphics Studio team. So out came the phones and the cameras and people got busy clicking away…and others were clicking the snaps of people clicking snaps…while they in turn were the topic for someone else’s camera… that kind of went on for a long time. Of course, we have our own “Narcissus” in the group. He just could not stop getting snaps of himself clicked! So while the rest of us teased him, he just posed away…

MAKE WAY FOR THE FOOD!

And then the first course arrived and a sudden lull fell over the group- you see, we don’t talk with our mouths full! And our mouths were full throughout. As the bill mounted, we had some real converts. All the goody-goody “I’m on diet” people were soon forgetting their inhibitions and joining in on the gorging devouring eating   competition pandemonium fest.

And thus we were lost till the final course arrived…

OUR OWN BARDS

Now we had some time till the desserts came.  Somehow then someone brought up the topic of poems …and the romantic vein of the team was revealed. Some could remember only fragments of poems, others quoted from (at least this is what they say) what they’d written before in love letters. Then you had one doling out stock poetry as if he was the very Casanova himself- reincarnated. There were many poems that were started by one person and finished by someone else. As if it were not enough, iPhones were brought out once again and a number of really startling compositions cropped up using the various musical instrument apps. The air was filled with what would’ve been music, had any of us actually known how to play an instrument. The actual sounds that were filling the air closely resembled strangled cats singing in choir with old witches, bloodthirsty zombies and wild geese! (Yeah, I know, it is tough to imagine that combination. Believe me, I couldn’t have done so either- till I ACTUALLY heard our brilliant team!!)

AND THEN THE FINISHING TOUCH

Soon the desserts arrived and they were SIMMMMMMMMMMPLY the best. We’ve all added extra tyres to our tummy, but that’s really insignificant, in the broader view of things 😛 .

But that was not the finishing touch. The finishing touch was when the Birthday boy, Gopal, recited a self-composed poem. We were all mesmerised and there were “Encore” requests. Gopal obliged. The Tamil poem touched our romantic team’s heart- at least that’s my guess. You see, I did not follow a word of it. The Tamil was too upscale for my humble knowledge 😛

But overall, it was well-liked, just like the group-outing.

Well….Ta-Ta  now…catch you again with something new in our Motion Graphics Studio.

Till then,  SMILE AWAY!!!

She often uses her BA English Gold Medal and Symbiosis Mass Communication background to finish off arguments, if they’re not going in her favour. Not being satisfied with writing, she has now decided to interfere in Creative Direction as well. When not at work, she can be seen in the company of her son, who has the uphill task of making his mom grow up right. You can get in touch with her on Facebook, or Twitter, or any social platform, because she signs up for a new one each day. She has many blogs, but she rarely blogs, so the best place to catch her work will be our website.
